Overview Expand

When Heathrow’s Terminal 4 was significantly upgraded with a new check-in extension featuring a striking glass façade and canopy, Lindner Prater was selected by Taylor Woodrow to develop a bespoke solution to realise the ambitious design by architect 3D Reid.

BAA sought an appearance similar to the new south wing extension of T3. Working with Taylor Woodrow (BAA’s Complex Build Integrator) and BAA’s design and technical leadership, we responded with a proposal to build a value for money version of the proposed façade, one that would bring the exciting concept to life and meet the demanding technical and aesthetic goals for the project.

The project comprised a 25m deep x 180m wide glazed extension to the existing T4 building with a new 12m deep canopy to provide solar shading and weather protection for passengers.

Our in-house design team worked closely with the project team and other suppliers to develop and engineer the installation, which included a bespoke blast-enhanced glass façade and pre-manufactured roofing elements. We also sourced and installed the façade steelwork, external composite wall panels and blast-enhanced doors.
